Global comparison of reputation:
How companies perform on the stock marketWhat is the reputation of listed companies worldwide? The new analysis by the IMWF – Institute for Management and Economic Research examines companies from the six most important share indices (DAX 40, EUROSTOXX 50, FTSE 100, Dow Jones, NASDAQ 100 and S&P 100) for the first time. A total of over 340 companies were analyzed in terms of their perception in online media and social networks. The analysis is based on the IMWF’s proven reputation model with five central dimensions.
The results at a glance
The results of the study show a differentiated picture: While US companies dominate in almost all reputation dimensions, Europe lags far behind in key areas such as sustainability, profitability and management.
The distortion in the area of employer branding is particularly striking: an above-average number of companies achieve excellent scores here – an indication of a strong media focus or disproportionate reporting. The FTSE 100 stands out negatively, with below-average scores in all dimensions. The healthcare sector is the only one to achieve high scores in several dimensions simultaneously – a clear sign of its strength of reputation.
How it was measured
For the analysis, more than 8.6 million statements from online media, social networks, forums and blogs were evaluated in the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The IMWF uses an AI-supported social listening process that automatically analyzes individual tonalities and content. Five reputation dimensions were evaluated: Product & Service, Sustainability, Management, Profitability and Employer Quality. The resulting reputation index provides a comprehensive picture of company sentiment – differentiated by index, sector and dimension.
The study provides well-founded insights into the public perception of over 340 listed companies worldwide – differentiated according to sectors, indices and reputation dimensions. This provides companies with a valuable benchmark for assessing their own position, identifying weaknesses at an early stage and making targeted investments in their reputation management.
