Collecting clippings and monitoring social media have long been part of the everyday work of communications experts. But to communicate successfully in the future, this is no longer enough – a solid database is necessary. Modern technologies in the field of media analysis make it possible to compile and evaluate company and brand data across the board. However, the study “Excellence in Corporate Communications,” conducted jointly by Professor Lothar Rolke of Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the media analysis service providers Meltwater and IMWF, shows that these opportunities are primarily used by the communications elite. In addition, the study provides important key figures for managing communications work as well as external and internal communications. For example, it is clear that reputation values, image values and topic leadership in the media are considered particularly important in the management of communications work. The media analysis thus provides valuable information for the communications elite as well as for basic PR experts.
